One of the greatest things about Spring is new life! You see it everywhere around… trees budding, bird nesting and raising young, plants bursting thru the eath to begin their year of growth, bee hive exploading in population and every gardner planning and preparing to plant their garden.
One of my greatest joys is to raise any plant from seed. It is also a great way to introduce children to the fun of gardening by giving them their own seeds to plant. It’s also a help to other gardeners by raising bedding plants to jgive them a jump start their garden.
This year I have raised primarily tomatos and peppers to take to the farmers market and even though the quantity is far beyond what I would normally plant, the same fun and joy was there from planting the seed, watching them emerge, and now growing to a viable plant that can be set out in a garden.
If you have never started a bedding plant from seeds, I would encourage you to grab you kids, grandkids or even a neighborhood kid and give it a try!
